The Project
A book full of gems. We conceived and designed the latest book in the Züri series published by Zürcher Kantonalbank.
The book "ZüriPerlen", which is supplemented by a map and a web platform, showcases a collection of little-known, often somewhat hidden treasures in the Zurich region. As part of the Züri series, Zürcher Kantonalbank publishes a book every few years in which Zurich-based authors, commissioned by the bank, explore a topic in depth to shed light on the richness of Zurich’s history, culture, and economy. With this gift to the people of Zurich, the bank expresses its connection to the Zurich community.
Together with journalists, authors, artists, illustrators, photographers, and experts, we have profiled "ZüriPerlen" from the fields of experiences, cuisine, art, crafts, nature, and knowledge, and immortalized them in a beautifully designed book.
The varied design highlights the uniqueness of each story in the book. The design, text, photography, printing, and finishing were all handled locally – by creatives and producers from the region.
The elaborately produced book cover, featuring screen printing, embossing, and die-cutting, makes you want to open the shell and discover the pearls inside.
Culinary highlights such as muesli, chocolate, beer, and truffles are featured, along with many other categories.
The book is supplemented by a map and a platform that continuously highlights new gems.
A map in the form of a leaflet is available at all ZKB branches. It features the individual “pearls,” each with a brief description and a QR code linking to the online platform.
The online platform zueriperlen.ch showcases all the “pearls” and is constantly updated with new ones. Suggestions from the public are also incorporated. In this way, the theme continues to thrive long after the book’s launch.
